Abstract

The red palm weevil is a very destructive pest that poses a significant threat to palm
weevil trees worldwide larvae of the weevil make holes up to 1 meter in plants and the host is
killed which causes a great reduction in economy every year. If control is delayed the possibility to
destroy of whole orchard of dates by weevil. Nowadays many chemicals are used to control the
red palm weevil which is less effective and ecologically not good long residual effect excessive of
chemical affect the quality and quantity of dates. We use the serial dilution of bifenthrin to control
the red palm weevil. In this case, the concentration of bifenthrin is high to low which is
ecologically friendly, and less residual effect of the concentration affects the mortality of red palm
weevil. The serial was applied to date palm weevil and the mortality rate was recorded after a
specific period the laboratory demography of bifenthrin killed 80 % population of weevil. The
purpose of the study is to control the date palm weevil by an efficient method and this research
paper aims to investigate the result of serial dilution of bifenthrin to control the date palm weevil
with less residual effect. Our research recommends that the field use the serial dilution of
bifenthrin to control the weevil with friendly ecology and provide the strength to bifenthrin to kill
the date palm weevil with less residual effect.
